Short Run Molding Company is a spin-off of Payne Carpentry Associates, a company that was founded in 1982, specializing in the installation of interior trim and cabinetry. We have shifted the focus of our business to custom workshop products and are no longer doing onsite installations.
Our extensive selection of over 130 custom-shaped knives allow us to reproduce the molding you have been looking for or trying to match. We can also procure a custom knife to match your molding. We reproduce standard and custom moldings in a wide range of wood species, and unlike many other shops, are set up for producing both large and small runs of paint/stain grade moldings.

Our Process
Whether we are reproducing an existing profile or running a standard molding in a special wood selection, it usually begins with the knives.
We have knives for many of the standard profiles that are used in today's construction. These enable us to make special casing, arch and round top moldings, and moldings in various woods to match the casings in today's houses.
For custom shapes, we need a piece of the molding that you would like usto duplicate. Custom knives are then ground to match the requested profile. The knives are set into the molding machine and the molding is run.
Depending on the shape and style, certain moldings may be produced on the table saw or with a shaper or router. When the moldings are completed they are packed for pickup or delivery.
